Galerie Louvre is situated in the centre of Prague in a historical building in Národní třída 22. In years 1902 - 1948 there in the first floor was prestigious Café Louvre. This place was renowned among Prague's intellectuals and was attended by for example by Franz Kafka, Max Brod, Albert Einstein. In year 1948 was this "boureau" of artists closed. The café's door were reopened in year 1992 and Café Louvre promptly tied up to the famous tradition from the first half of 20th century.
In 2003 was to café in the first floor attached Galerie Louvre in a mezzanine of the building. Gallery has presented works of Czech and French modern art.
Since January 2008 the premises carry a new name: Galerie Fotografie Louvre (Gallery of Photography Louvre). It is thematically oriented gallery focusing on contemporary Czech photograpny. Besides exhibitions there are hold accompanying programs such as conferences and presentations.
Part of the gallery is pleasant non-smoking café and longue in modern functionalist style.
Premises are often used for corporate and cultural events. We offer capacity for 15 - 150 persons, various options for working with space and sound system. A projector, projection screen and wireless microphone are at disposal.
